Indian Women Scientists Stress on Gender-Fair Policies in the Field of Research on National Science Day
Rupamanjari Ghosh the Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University stated that Science is a field which is full of difficulties and in this era, a lot of other barriers and unintentional hurdles are put in between the career path for women.
With the commencement of National Science Day on Friday, the women scientists from India stressed upon the need for equality, better and gender-fair policies to be accumulated in the field of research. This concern has arisen in the context to Nobel Medal awarded in the disciplines of Science, for which, out of 607, only 20 awards have been given to the women.

In context to this, Rupamanjari Ghosh the Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University stated that Science is a field which is full of difficulties and in this era, a lot of other barriers and unintentional hurdles are put in between the career path for women. Supporting to the notion, a Physics Professor, Gosh stated that such career options demands for long hours to work for which there is a lack of basic amenities and security for women scientists. Hence, we need to focus on these problems and prevention for a fair gender policy.

G Geetha the Professor and Head, Division of Research and Development at the Lovely Professional University emphasised on closing the gender gap in science by saying that the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, which is one of the noblest awards in Science disciplines, has been awarded to only 18 women out of 560 nominees.
every year, the National Science Day is celebrated on February 28 in the commemoration of Dr CV Raman’s discovery of Raman’s effect in the year 1928.
