A survey was released on 14th October 2019, Monday, which revealed that the Indian youth opts for banking and government jobs as a result of being driven by the desire of job security and a healthy work-life balance. The survey was formed on the basis of the responses given by 5,000 government and banking job aspirants across the country.

Oliveboard, the online competitive exam preparation space, carried out this survey and found that as much as 44.30 per cent of the total respondents voted for job stability, while the option of a better work-life balance was chosen by 36.70 per cent of the voters. These options received the maximum number of votes as compared to some other popular considerations like a good salary, which was voted for by 11.10 per cent of the respondents. The study also revealed that 79 per cent of all the survey respondents belonged to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

The co-founder and CEO of Oliveboard, Abhishek Patil, spoke about the survey and said that when speaking about the aspirations of the Indian youth, it is necessary to look beyond the mega cities that are brimming with startups and MNCs (Multi-National Companies). He said that the majority of Indians reside in villages and small towns and public sector jobs are the most sought after in these places. He said that the survey conducted by his organisation sheds light on the motivations and dreams of this section of the society which is ignored often.
