In 2002, Anand Kumar started giving free coaching to the underprivileged engineering aspirants in his Super 30 initiative with no prognosis that he will be transforming the future of the nation in a never-before way. He took the initiative to help the bright students who could not go into the expensive JEE Coaching centres that flooded Bihar. His initiative has also influenced the government which has come forward to help the underprivileged students as well in the government managed coaching centres. This year, all 30 students of ‘Akansha’ which is an initiative by RailTel has cracked the JEE Mains examination among which, 11 students have cleared the JEE Advanced examination which is considered as the doorway to enter the 23 Indian Institute of Technolgy (IITs) situated in different places in the Country.

These organisations are providing free coaching, mentoring and lodging in the centres. RailTel is associated with CSR (Centre for Social Responsibility) and leadership. In 2015, the organisation has set up a unit of ‘Abhayanand Super 30’ located at Dehradun.

The coaching centre picked up 30 underprivileged students from Uttarakhand with the help of an Entrance Examination and Personal Interview which tested their mental ability to crack the most prestigious engineering entrance exam in the country. The students belong to the economically backward families whose backgrounds are planted in farming, labour works etc.

Vandana, the daughter of a Waiter in a Dehradun hotel are one of the prime beneficiaries. The economically poor background of her had obdurate her mindset with the thought that she will not get a chance even in any normal college. Suggested by her teachers, she decided to appear in the Akansha Super 30 Entrance Examination. She exclaimed with joy that she was not sure if she could join any college after 12th, she decided to help her father in work until she joined Akansha Super 30 and got to know about the IITs.

Similarly, another organisation is supporting the financially unstable, conflict-affected students of Jammu an Kashmir. The coaching centre named ‘Army’s Super 40’ saw 26 students cracking the JEE Mains examination in 2017 from that region. 9 students from Army’s Super 40 qualified for IIT JEE as well. The coaching centre is run by the Army’s help functioning in Srinagar. 2017 batch also witnessed 5 girl students out of which 2 qualified JEE Mains examination.

This year, a student named Ahmed Shaikh who scored 558 ranks in NEET is a student of Gifted 30 and has got through a Gujarat Medical College. He got the admission after the demise of his father.

Apart from Engineering and Medical, an institute has also come up recently to help underprivileged students for cracking one of the toughest examinations of the country which is CA or Chartered Accountant Examination.
Surat-based Chartered Accountant Mr Ravi Chhawchharia has established Super 45 for helping underprivileged students in the city for fulfilling their dreams of becoming a Chartered Accountant in future.
