Internships Mandatory for Engineering students in Telangana
- AICTE's mandatory internship programme has been launched to improve the quality of engineering education.

The engineering students of the Telangana state will be required to take internships during their courses. The new rule will be implemented from the academic year 2018-19. The main aim of the initiative is to improve the quality of engineering education and to sharpen their skills.
Most of the students lack practical knowledge and skill sets required for jobs, therefore the internships will offer them with training and experience required in the corporate world.

The Commissioner of Technical Education confirmed the same and added that even the students from polytechnic colleges will also be required to complete the internship. However, the duration for polytechnic students is 4 to 6 weeks.
As per the reports, Telangana engineering students will be required to complete internships during the completion of second year or third year of their engineering programme. Currently, students take up various projects and in the final year of the engineering programme. However, the new curriculum of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) requires every engineering student to pursue internship along with the studies.

The main agenda of the AICTE through this initiative is to make every student employable. As it gets very difficult for the students to look for the job after the completion of the course. The new curriculum will have 15 credits for the seminar, project work and internship out of 160. The time duration for the internship is between 6 to 8 weeks.
