Courses Offered by IIPM New Delhi not Recognised
University Grants Commission has said in a statement that the courses offered by IIPM, New Delhi are not recognised and the institute has no right to award any UG or PG degrees to the students.
UGC announced that the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) doesn’t have the right to give degrees as per the rules. IIPM is also not entitled to award any UG or PG degrees such as BBA, BCA and MCA and it is also not recognised by the UGC.
As per the statement, IIPM is not a University within the meaning of Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and it doesn’t have the right to confer degrees as specified by the UGC under Section 22 (3) of the UGC Commission Act. The statement also mentioned that Delhi High Court has also refrained IIPM from offering any degree programme through its order dated September 26, 2014.

At that time, IIPM and its Dean Arindam Chaudhuri were restrained by the High Court from describing the courses as BBA, MBA, Management Course, Management School or B school as they aren’t recognised. The court had also imposed a fine of RS.25,000 on IIPM for going against the undertaking that was given to the court regarding not giving any misleading or false information regarding the courses offered by IIPM.

IIPM is an unaccredited institute, situated in New Delhi. It had 18 branches earlier and the institute had been in news regarding the credibility of the courses it offers. All campuses across India of the institute have been shut except the one campus in Delhi. It used to offer UG, PG and doctoral courses in entrepreneurship, and economic planning etc.
