IRMA Holds 36th Annual Convocation, 176 Students Awarded PGP Degrees

The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) held its 36th Annual Convocation on 29 April 2017. A total of 176 students of Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Rural Management graduated this year. The topper of the PRM batch 36, Ms. Ritika Goel, was awarded the prestigious Kuchibhotla Vasanthi Gold Medal by the Chief Guest.

The convocation ceremony was presided over by T Nanda Kumar, the chairman of IRMA while the chief guest of the ceremony was Dr. Tushaar Shah, a senior fellow at the IWMI - International Water Management Institute, Sri Lanka.

T Nandakumar advises the students not to get intoxicated by the power and authority. He went on to point out that attaining power after becoming MDs, CEOs and Chairperson can be intoxicating. Controls can be used in the form of getting something that is not yours or throwing tantrums for an airline seat. He warned the students of the “disruptive” world outside. He guided them to get ready to face disruptions with changes in technology markets, policy, environment, and challenges in global economic movement.

Rakesh Saxena, the director in-charge disclosed that IRMA's achievement this year has seen a 100 percent placement with an average salary package of total Rs 10.22 lakh per annum and the highest salary package was INR 46.5 lakh per annum.

Shah recollected the days when he had worked closely with the late Dr. Verghese Kurien, IRMA's founder and father of India's White Revolution. Adding to this, he suggested that IRMA should use every convocation ceremony to encourage and reflect the work of that exceptional person.
