ISRO Launches Space Technology Incubation Center at NIT Jalandhar
The Indian Space Research Organisation has launched its second Space Technology Incubation Center at the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. The inauguration was done by the Chairperson of ISRO Dr K Sivan.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar is the institute where the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched its second Space Technology Incubation Center. The first one was launched in September 2018 in NIT Agartala. The Chairperson of ISRO, Dr. K Sivan inaugurated the S-TIC (Space Technology Incubation Center).

The Center is expected to contribute towards the research and development (R&D) initiatives for Indian Space Programme by bringing together ISRO, academia and industry under one roof.
The Space Technology Incubation Center by ISRO is based on the concept that one major academic institute is selected to lead a particular region and offer opportunities to graduate, postgraduate and research scholars in their final year.
Students' research outcome is then turned into a prototype through industries that have a tie-up with the Space Technology Incubation Center through ISRO.

These products are then tested in ISRO labs where they get the required validation. Once these products are validated, ISRO will have a buyback agreement of such products for its future programmes, which ultimately eliminates all the effort required for marketing of products.
NIT Jalandhar offers admission to its B.Tech programmes based on the Joint Entrance Examination Mains (JEE Mains), which is taken by students across the country every year. For its M.Tech programmes, the institute offers admission based on the GATE entrance exam, which is jointly organised by the IITs and IISc every year.
The final selection of candidates for postgraduate admission is based on the research and interviews done by the appropriate screening committees.
