ITI Ambala Gets Centre for Skilling Women in Automobile Sector
Haryana’s State Skill Development & ITI Department has set up a Centre for skilling women in Automobile Sector in collaboration with Hero Moto Corp.
In order to encourage women to secure jobs in the automobile sector, a centre for skilling women in the automobile sector has been inaugurated at ITI (Industrial Training Institute) located in Ambala (Haryana). Hero Moto Corp Limited has set up this centre in collaboration with Haryana’s Skill Development and Industrial Training Department. The initiative has been taken under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Industrial Training for women in automobile sector will be provided through fully functional and equipped technician training labs. Apart from equipping women with skills in this sector, the centre will also train women students to drive two-wheeler vehicles. This will ensure their mobility.
Hero Moto Corp Limited’s motto is ‘Hunar Se Kamyabi Tak’. Under this motto, the company has trained 20,000 people through world-class training centres so far. The initiative to skill women in automobile sector will give a boost to the female enrollment in such courses at ITI and Polytechnic levels.

Usually, the female enrollment in Automobile/ Automobile Engineering courses at ITI, Polytechnic and B.Tech levels is comparatively less than other courses. On the other hand, female candidates despite a good career path also less prefer Mechanical Engineering. Skilling women in these sectors will motive the young female aspirants choose such courses as a career path, which will eventually improve the female workforce in the automobile sector.
