Jadavpur University Receives Rs. 100 Crore to Upgrade Research Facilities
Jadavpur University has received the 1st installment of Rs. 100 crore funding. The grant has been given to the varsity by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan - RUSA and will help in enhancing the research quality.
Jadavpur University has received the 1st installment of the Rs. 100 crore grant or funding. The grant has been given to the varsity under the central grant in pursuit of its excellence, under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The RUSA scheme provides financial aid to the selected state universities to start new research projects and upgrade their research facilities.
The sanctioned amount was Rs. 41.66 crore, out of which the Rs. 25 crore was central share and Rs.16.66 was state’s share. Jaydip Mukhopadhyay, State Projector Director, RUSA informed that the grant will help in enhancing the quality of research and academics at Jadavpur University.

Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor, JU said that the varsity would use the sanctioned money to launch advanced research facilities and to accumulate new infrastructure. He further informed that he will be meeting the faculty members of the varsity to figure out different ways to fully optimise the funds within the given time period.

Jadavpur University is the first higher education institute of Bengal to have received the grant on the basis of its NAAC accreditation for five years. The university offers many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in the field of management, engineering, information technology, arts and humanities, commerce and banking and others.
