Jadavpur University Suspends Admission Process for PG Engineering Courses
- Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University clarified that the admission process had been stalled to protect the interests of students.
- The irregularities in the admissions came into limelight when the varsity published the merit list on the official website on July 21.
Following the irregularities in the admission process, Jadavpur University has suspended the post graduate engineering admissions for the academic session 2017-18 temporarily. Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Mr. Suranjan Das clarified that the admission process had been stalled to protect the interests of students. He assured that the varsity would scrutinise the entire admission process of M.Tech/ M.E course. The final decision on the admission process of PG engineering courses will be taken soon.

The irregularities in the admission process came into limelight when the varsity published the merit list on the official website on July 21, 2017. Due to the allegations of irregularities, Jadavpur University has cancelled the merit list.
Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association clarified that the varsity will manually compile the merit list of each discipline initially. The manually complied merit list will be checked later. Jadavpur University will upload the revised merit list only after thorough scrutiny of manually compiled merit list.

Jadavpur University also faced similar kind of situation recently. The name of the West Bengal Class 12 topper appeared in the merit list of Jadavpur University. Surprisingly, the student had not applied to any of the UG programmes offered by the varsity. However, his name featured in the merit list of four subjects. It came as a shock to the Class 12 topper. Later, he contacted the officials of Jadavpur University and sorted out the issue. Even the authorities were unaware on how the name of Class 12 topper appeared in merit list without applying to any course.
