<p>While showing its support for the ongoing strike of Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI) Students of Jadhavpur University went on a token hunger strike.
The students were protesting against the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of the prestigious institute.
Students of FTTI are protesting since last week and appealing the government to come up with a solution to this deadlock. Students of Jadhavpur University, Presidency University and Calcutta Medical College have launched a six-hour long hunger strike at Jadhavpur University campus.
Students claim that Chauhan lacks credentials for the designation of the Chairman and that his appointment was politically motivated. The hunger strike that started in the morning ended in the late evening.
