Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh is likely to move a privilege motion against Dr. Jayshree Mehta, the president of the Medical Council of India.

The reason behind this motion is for suggesting that the committee had submitted its report without giving the MCI a chance for a hearing. The parliamentary standing committee on health had called for a complete restructuring of MCI.

MP Jairam Ramesh who was a member of the parliamentary standing committee on health termed Mehta's statement was "a complete lie".

The MP termed the statement of Dr. Mehta as a clear breach of privilege and he intends to move one privilege motion against Dr. Mehta. He further said that the statement was an attempt to discredit standing committee report.

On the other hand, the president of the Medical Council of India claimed that despite the fact they had sought time from the parliamentary standing committee, they were not given any time. They were denied the mandatory opportunity of hearing.
