Jamia Signs MoU to Get 100% Wi-Fi Coverage
MoU has been signed between Jamia Millia Islamia University and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in order to get 100% Wi-Fi coverage on the campus.
A MoU has been signed between Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in order to get 100% Wi-Fi coverage on the campus. The university released a statement on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, saying that Rs. 8.75 crore has been granted for upgradaing the Wi-Fi services by the MHRD.

As per the statement of the university, Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Talat Ahmad has signed a MoU with the HRD Ministry, Government of India, UGC and NICSI so that the Wi-Fi facilities could be enhanced and 100% coverage could be provided on the university campus. It also mentioned the generous amount that has been offered to the university by the MHRD to set up the above in order.
The statement added that the Wi-Fi services of JMI that were up to merely 40%, will reach the proficiency level of up to 100% with this MoU. It will also be very beneficial for the students, faculty, research scholars as well as the visitors of Jamia because it will provide high-speed wireless access for the corresponding internet and intranet resources on the entire university premises, be it the administrative block or the academic block.

Apart from this, 5% consultancy fee will also be paid to the NICSI by the MHRD for enhancing the Wi-Fi facility.
