Jammu University Demands Changes in National E-Scholarship Portal
Currently, UGC is in a dilemma as the e-scholarship portal of the Centre misses out on many faculties leaving the students perplexed.
The state government’s initiative to seed bank accounts with the Aadhar number for the direct transfer of scholarship is facing roadblocks. The scholarships are being provided by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. Currently, UGC is in a dilemma as the e-scholarship portal of the Centre misses out on many faculties leaving the students perplexed. Some of the students claimed that they could not avail the benefit of the scholarships due to a delay in the correction of Aadhar cards.
One of the professors of Jammu University mentioned that the portal had the same issues last year too. There is no specific mention of most of the faculties on the portal. Hence, students are confused to fill the form online. Some of the students log in with the wrong faculty, leading to more and more confusion.

The professor also added that he had met the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Mr. R.D. Sharma last year to get a one-time settlement of the scholarships manually.
Prof. Jigar Mohammad, Dean, Research Studies, University of Jammu clarified that they have been making efforts to rectify the faculty structure of the portal and make it student savvy soon. He also mentioned that they had received complaints from the students stating that were facing difficulty while filling the online application. He assured that they would rectify the faults and the system would be made easy to use for the students.
The last date for submitting online applications on e-scholarship portal is October 31, 2016. Meanwhile, the national e-scholarship portal has directed the students who do not have Aadhar number to register on the portal with their bank account number or enrollment number.
