Javadekar Inaugurates Green Buiding and Shatabdi Krishi Bhawan at BHU

The Union Minister of Human Resource and Development, Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the Green building and Shatabdi Krishi Bhawan at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in the wake of holding a review meeting VCs of Central Universities on October 6, 2016.
The Shatabdi Krishi Bhawan under the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU has been named to celebrate the centennial year of the university. It is a four-storied building developed at the expense of Rs. 21 crores under OBC Reservation Policy. While the ground floor of the building is for parking of vehicles, the first floor has four lecture theatres with a limit of 250 students each and 9 rooms/chambers for employees.

The second floor has four research laboratories each with a limit of 125 students and 9 chambers for employees. The third floor of the building has four labs and nine rooms for undergraduate hypothesis and practical classes.

The primary green building under the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development is dedicated to the BHU founder Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya and his vision of green campus denoting the centenary year of BHU Campus. Built at the expense of Rs. 20 crores, the building has 30% efficient energy preservation, proper waste management and segregation, indoor air pollution control, programmed lighting controls, 25KW solar plant and 50KLD water treatment plant.
