JEE Advanced 2017: Fewer Students in Top 100 Choose IIT Bombay
- Only 53 students of the top 100 JEE Advanced Rank holders have chosen IIT-B this year.
- Among top 50 rank holders, 36 students have opted for IIT Bombay.
- Among these 36 students, only three girls chose Computer Science Engineering.
According to an official data released by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) after the first round of JoSAA reveals that only 53 students of the top 100 JEE Advanced 2017 Rank holders have chosen IIT Bombay this year, leading to a decline as compared to previous years. Last year, a total number of 67 students among the top 100 rankers opted for IIT Bombay. The number was 65 in 2015. As usual, most of the students opted for Computer Science Engineering course and it continued to be popular among many aspirants.

Among top 50 rank holders, 36 students have opted for IIT Bombay this year. Among these 36 students, only three girls chose Computer Science Engineering. So far, 75 female candidates in total confirmed their admission in IIT Bombay and chose various courses. The institute is expected to enroll around 90 girls this year in the first year B.Tech course.
Considering the demand from the students for Computer Science Engineering course, few IITs have also increased the intake capacity. A B.Tech degree holder in Computer Science Engineering from IIT will have more chances of being employed and with better packages.

This year, first and second rank holders joined Computer Science Engineering course in IIT Bombay while the third rank holder opted for Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) for CSE only.
The above statistics reveal that top rankers of JEE Advanced are preferring Computer Science Engineering course at IIT Bombay over the past few years. IIT Bombay is one of the favourable destination for the top rankers of JEE Advanced examination.
