According to the reports of CBSE – JEE exam conducting body – there has been close to 1% dip in JEE Main 2017 registration as compared to 2016. Officials of the board have reported that 11,98,989 students have applied for the exam in 2017.

For a third consecutive year, there has been a dip in the number of applications received for JEE Mains. However, the percentage of drop in applications is less than 2016. Last year there was 7% dip in the registration process of the exam.

According to past records of JEE Mains, 12.07 lakh students had registered for the exam last year. In 2017, 8011 lesser students will be taking JEE Mains. The application process for the exam has been witnessing a drop since 2015.

According to the insights shared by CBSE, the reintroduction of MHT CET has been one of the major reason in the drop of JEE Main applications. As per data, 33.66% fewer candidates registered for the exam since the reintroduction. Also in 2017, the reintroduction of Gujarat CET can be the reason behind the drop in applications.

Less than a week is left for the JEE Main entrance exam 2017 as the exam will be held on April 2 in offline mode. However, the computer-based exam will be conducted on April 8 and 9.
