National Testing Agency (NTA) is planning to reduce the number of JEE Mains 2022 attempts this year. The entrance exam is most likely to be conducted in April and May. NTA is yet to release the official notification for the exam. As reported by the Times of India, the exam could be conducted in two attempts as the Covid-19 pandemic situation turning normal in India. In 2021, the exam was conducted four times a year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the 2022 aspirants might have only two attempts this year. Approx 9 lakh engineering aspirants appeared for JEE Main last year.

According to the preliminary discussion, officials from the Ministry of Health and MoE have decided the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduates (NEET-UG) is to be conducted between the third week of June to the first week of July 2022. JEE Main is the multi-session computer-based examination that is attempted by the students for admission in engineering colleges and secure eligibility in JEE Advanced for admission in the IITs.

The number of attempts in JEE Mains increased to twice in 2019, and four in 2021. Results have shown clearly how candidates have been benefitted from taking multiple attempts, the best score from the four was considered to be the marks of the candidate.

Since situations turned out to be different in 2021 due to the second wave but it has improved this year. As announced that decreasing the attempts to twice will be equally beneficial to the students as four times. The registration is most likely to be starting from the end of February.

The reason has been due to the delay in the CBSE exams from April 26 & the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISE) from the last week of April.
