JEE Main 2023: 75% marks criteria for NIT, IIIT and CFTI admission relaxed through CSAB
NTA has relaxed the 75% marks criteria for admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs through JEE Main 2023. Here are the relaxed rules pertaining to the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2023.
JEE Main 2023: After the High Court of Bombay dismissed the plea seeking the postponement of JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exam, the matter related to the relaxation of 75% eligibility criteria has become the most sought-after demand from various aspirants (specifically dropper students). On the other hand, Bombay HC posted the matter pertaining to eligibility criteria for hearing in February.
As per the latest press release of the National Testing Agency, the eligibility criteria for admission to NIT, IIIT and CFTI admission has been relaxed. As per the details disclosed by NTA, here is the revised eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2023 with regard to 75% eligibility criteria –
- Candidates belonging to the General Category should have a minimum of 75% of marks in Class 12 for admission in NIT, IIIT and GFTIs through JEE Main. Also, the candidates who featured among the top 20 percentile candidates in various states (in board exams) are eligible for admission even though they do have 75% of marks in Class 12
- Candidates belonging to SC/ ST category must have a minimum of 65% of marks in Class 12 for admission in NIT, IIIT and GFTI through JEE Main. On the other hand, candidates who do have 65% of marks in Class 12 but featured among the top 20 percentile candidates in board exams are now eligible to register for the exam
- Dropper students of 2022 and 2021 who do not have 75%/ 65% marks in Class 12 but are featured among the top 20 percentile candidates in board exams are eligible to register for the exam
- In 2021, board exams were cancelled and most of the students were declared pass basis their academic performance. Candidates who featured in top 20 percentile candidate category in 2021 (in board exams) can now register for JEE Main 2023.
- The candidates with the above relaxations will not be eligible for admission through JoSAA counselling but they can participate in CSAB special round counselling conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)
The last date to register for JEE Main 2023 is January 12 after which the form correction process begins. The Session 1 of JEE Main 2023 is scheduled to be conducted from January 24 to 30.
