JEE Main January 2023 Day 1: National Testing Agency successfully concluded the 24th January Shift 1 JEE Exam between 9 AM to 12 PM. Candidates who appeared in shift 1 gave a mixed reaction, saying that the whole paper was between moderate to difficult. The JEE Main 2023 shift 1 had 3 sections and all the sections consisted of two sections (20 MCQ-based Questions and 10 Numerical Based Questions). As per the reaction highlighted by Mohit Tyagi, The chemistry was easy compared to all the other subjects. There were more questions from organic chemistry and physical and inorganic chemistry had equal weightage. The physical chemistry section came as a surprise as there were fewer numerical questions and more theory-based questions.
For math and physics, there was a mixed reaction from candidates appearing in Shift 1. One of the aspirants said that math was difficult but not lengthy whereas others said that math was between moderate to difficult (but lengthy). Many students claimed that there were no questions from the statistics. When it comes to Physics most of the candidates said that the paper was between moderate to difficult.

As per FitJEE Experts, the mathematics section was moderate, the chemistry section was easy to moderate and the physics section was easy. Overall the experts gave JEE Main 24th January 2023 shift 1 paper rating as moderate. Furthermore, the expert also added that the paper was balanced and covered almost all the chapters for Class 11th and 12th. Some of the students also reported that the question paper was easier than the previous year's question paper.

As per Ajay Sharma Byjus, The physics question was distributed equally and there were more numerical questions than the theoretical-based question. Some of the questions were from Electrostatics, Magnetism, Thermodynamics, modern physics and more. According to Ajay Sharma, students who have covered all the syllabus of 11th and 12th by providing sufficient time to problem-solving will be able to score good marks in Physics. Furthermore, he also added that the thorough studying of the NCERT book and solving the MOCK paper will be the key to success.

As per Saurabh Kumar VidyaMandir Classes, The JEE Main paper was similar to the last year's difficulty level. The physics section was more formula-based. Chapters like Semiconductor, kinetics and thermodynamics had higher weightage and in math Integration and 3d Vector were dominating the paper.
Overall the difficulty level of the JEE Main 24th January 2023 Shift 1 was moderate as per the reaction of the different coaching institutes. The Mathematics section was difficult compared to the physics and chemistry and chemistry was among the easy section where most of the questions were asked from organic chemistry.
