JEE Main Paper Review 24 January 2025: Students' Reviews
Here are the detailed student reviews and important notes for JEE Main 24 January 2025 Shift 1:
- Physics was easy, 2 questions directly from PYQs (Amplitude and lamda not formula based), 1 easy question on flux from square plate. As per students Physics subject had a lot of formula-based questions. Modern Physics had 2 questions, Ray Optics also had 3 questions (one question was from PlanoConvex Lens). 1 question from Semiconductor (Diode + theoretical question on Solar Cell and LED), No questions from logic gate, 1-2 questions from Current Electricity, No questions from Electromagnetism, 1 simple question from Energy where capacitor's energy was asked, 2 questions on Surface Tension. Fluid Mechanics had a question to break the ball in 27 and 64 radius.
- In Physics, there was 1 question from Circular Motion (on Banking subtopic). Students were able to do 20-22 questions from Physics. No questions came from Units and Dimension. 1 very easy question on work done where force equation was given and students just needed to apply integration to get the answer (F.Ds formula). 1 question from Intensity was asked, Wave Optics had more questions than Ray Optics. 1 question from SHM. 1 question came from screw gauge on least count and pitch. 2 questions on capacitance. 2 questions from Error. No questions on logic gate. 1 question from gravitation.
- Chemistry question paper was overall easy except few moderate to tough questions from organic chemistry. Weightage of Organic Chemistry was higher as per students' initial reviews. 1 question on Aldol reaction, 1 question on carbocation stability. Organic chemistry had multiple statement-based questions. One question from periodic table was tricky which asked students to choose the incorrect option that will be the correct answer. So students are advised to read the statements and words very carefully.
- 2 questions were asked from Coordination Compounds in Chemistry. 1 question came from Salt Analysis, and students were able to do 18-20 questions from Chemistry. 2 questions came from Chemical Bonding. 1 question from Biomolecules on DNA Ribose Sugar. 5 to 6 questions came from Inorganic chemistry. Physical chemistry questions were moderate so students spent more time in this section.
- Maths was tough and lengthy, questions required a lot of calculation. Many students overall attempted only 3-7 questions from Maths section. 3D Vector had 3-4 questions (One question from plane, perpendicular vector, and intersection), 2 questions on Area, 1 question on probability, 1 question came where complex numbers and quadratic equation concepts were mixed, 2 questions from Matrices and Determinants, 1 question from integration where parabolic graph was there and candidates had to apply "mod x + 2" to solve the problem.
- In Maths, there was 1 question where a.c = 5 then equations of a and c were given and students were supposed to find the magnitiude of c. 1 question also came from statistics where mean deviation was asked to calculate. 1 question on ellipse from conic section. 2-3 questions from Coordinate Geometry.
- 99 percentile, as per students, will be between 180-190 marks
- Overall number of good attempts was 47-52
- Students approximately spent 1 hours in Physics, 50 minutes in Chemistry, and 1 hour 10 minutes on Maths.
- Overall class 12th syllabus dominated in this shift of the exam.
- Students said Day 3 Shift 1 was tougher than Day 1 and Day 2 (both shifts). So cutoff could be less for Day 3 Shift 1 as per the students.
