The Indian Navy recruits officers with exceptional technical capabilities and those who can manage hi-tech overhaul. Keeping this in mind, Indian Navy will shortlist candidates based on their performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains). So, all those looking forward to making a career in the Indian Navy, will have to appear for JEE Mains 2017. The candidates under this 10+2 B Tech cadet entry scheme will then be eligible for January 2018 course at INA or the Indian Naval Academy.
Highlights of the scheme:
- Around 120 candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the scores obtained by them in the Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Mains.
- These candidates will then have to appear for the interview round at the Services Selection Board (SSB).
- Candidate’s score in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Maths (PCM combination) of the class 12th exams will not be considered in the 10+2 B Tech cadet entry scheme.
- Since an uneven system of scoring system is adopted by different state boards of the country, JEE scores will now be the benchmark for selecting suitable candidates.
The government is in complete favour of the above move. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also agreed to share the JEE (Mains) ranks for the same.
