Jio TV to Broadcast 32 Government Education Channels

Reliance Jio will soon launch the broadcast of HRD Ministry’s 32 educational channels through its mobile application ‘Jio TV’. Through this initiative, students can watch the live streaming of education channels on their mobile phones. Students will have to download Jio TV app on their mobile phones to access these educational channels.

In 2016, the Ministry of Human Resource Development launched 32 education channels under ‘Swayam Prabha’ scheme. So far, Doordarshan andDish TV have been broadcasting these channels. The channels were not available on the platform of other service providers, as they refused to broadcast the 32 educational channels at free of cost.

Recently, Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar appealed all the telecom companies and cable operators to carry the channels on their platforms for the benefit of students.

On Jio TV, students need not pay any additional amount for watching 32 educational channels. All they need to have is data balance on their mobile phone.

The educational channels of HRD Ministry are highly beneficial to students. After watching the content, students can clarify their doubts through a toll-free number. For this purpose, HRD Ministry has appointed subject experts. With an objective to help students understand the concept better, the educational content has been blended with diagrams, videos and pictures.

The Government of Telangana launched a similar kind of initiative called ‘Mana TV’. Through this channel, the government is providing coaching for national level entrance exams, competitive exams, and Class 10 and Class 12 lessons. The channel is available on the cable network and it is available throughout the state.
