JIPMER’s Campus at Karaikal to Start Functioning from November 15
Currently, a total number of 49 students have already been selected for MBBS course at the campus for the academic session 2016-17.
One of the top officials of JIPMER revealed that the new campus at Karaikal would start functioning from November 15, 2016. He also stated that the plans have been prepared for the construction of the campus in Phase – I at the cost of Rs. 406 crore. Similarly, the construction of super specialty hospital would commence in Phase – II at the expense of Rs. 336 crore. He indicated that the institution would become a world class one in medical education. The institution is being constructed on 78 acres of land.

Currently, a total number of 49 students have already been selected for MBBS course at the campus for the academic session 2016-17. They are attending classes at JIPMER, Puducherry campus. These students will attend classes at Karaikal campus from November 15, 2016. The construction of administrative office, library buildings, laboratories and classrooms have been completed. A General Hospital would also come up on the campus which will consist of 506 beds.
JIPMER is also planning to add nursing and paramedical colleges at the Karaikal Campus and looking for an additional land. The government would allot eight acres of land soon for the construction of these colleges.
