Amidst turmoil in Jammu & Kashmir, the J&K Board of School Education in India (JKBOSE) has announced that it will conduct Class 10 Board Exam & Class 12 Board Exam twice in the months of November, 2016 & March 2017.
JKBOSE usually conducts its Board Exams in November to allow students to prepare for competitive exams. The Board has received resistance from a section of students due to non-completion of the syllabus for the impending board exams.
According to Education Minister Nadeem Akhtar, students have been given the option to select their preferred time of giving the exams following their reservations on completion of syllabus. He, however, made it clear that the concessions given to students appearing for exam in November will not be extended to students who decide to appear in March 2017.
Earlier in November, the Board also announced that students appearing for the Board exam in November will attempt only 50% of the question paper following non-completion of the syllabus.
He also mentioned that students from Gurez, Tandgar and Tehsil Keran and Machil divisions, both regular and private would not be eligible for the proposed March 2017 examinations.
J&K has been entrapped in a series of unrest since the fatal encounter of the militant commander Burhan Wahi. Preceding his death, Kashmir has been in and out curfews, the longest lockdown in the recent years. In this process, more than 25 schools have been burnt down in this shutdown.
