Many private colleges in Hyderabad have approached the city’s Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-H) to get approval for the introduction of new courses like Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the upcoming academic session.

The private colleges wanted JNTU-H to grant permission for the courses of Computer Science and Business Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Information Technology and Computer Engineering, and Information Technology and Engineering which have already been given approval by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University wrote to the government of Telangana seeking its permission as it was decided in the perspective plan of the state that no regular courses or new colleges will be permitted. An official spoke on the matter and said that as per the plan, some courses that are skill-based can be approved but this remains without any clarity whatsoever. A decision will be taken about the matter after the government gives its consent.
