JNTU Hyderabad to Organise 6th Convocation Ceremony on April 21

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad will hold its annual convocation ceremony on April 21, 2017. The convocation ceremony will be presided over by Governor of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, Shri. E.S.L. Narasimhan. During the convocation ceremony, a member of NITI Aayog, Mr. V.K. Saraswat will be honoured with an honorary doctorate. Later, he will deliver the convocation address.

Giving details about the 6^th convocation ceremony, Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad revealed that the varsity did not conduct its convocation ceremony for the past two and half years until now. Hence, around 2.67 lakh students will receive degrees this year.

The varsity will award 111 gold medals to the meritorious students who excelled in the field of academics. This year, 738 candidates will receive Ph.D. degrees.

Explaining about the academic activities, VC of JNTU-Hyderabad mentioned that the varsity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TASK and NASSCOM for skill development programmes.

With an objective to incubate business ventures, the varsity has set up an Ideation Centre at College of Engineering located at Kukatpally. The alumni of the varsity funded for the establishment of the Ideation Centre.

Speaking about the performance of JNTU-Hyderabad in NIRF Rankings, the VC said that the varsity secured 63^rd rank in engineering colleges category and not in the universities category.

Giving details about the developmental projects taken up by the varsity, the Vice-Chancellor explained that a solar power plant has been set up at the Sultanpur Campus of the varsity which generates 5.8 million units per year.
