JNU, Second Central University to Make Facebook Debut After JMI
JNU entered the world of social media by formulating a Facebook page. The university has become the second central university in the national capital to have an official Facebook page. Find out more details below.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University , or JNU, launched its own page on Thursday, i.e. 16th April 2020. With this step, it becomes the second central university after JMI ( Jamia Milia Islamia ) to mark its presence on Facebook.
In a statement, JNU claims that it has come up with its Facebook page in order to share information, official news, beneficial schemes of the HRD ministry, UGC (University Grants Commission) and other government institution, important events and messages. The varsity further stated that the page is formulated with an intention to provide a platform to the faculty, staff and students to share their stories, experiences and views in the form of text, videos or pictures as per their convenience. The university also believes that sharing information via Facebook can positively impact, benefit and motivate the larger part of the society.
Jamia Milia Islamia was the only central university prevailing in the national capital to have its presence on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. In a statement made, JNU said that the idea behind launching an official Facebook page is based on three main objectives. The university said that through the medium of this page they would be able to share, collaborate and grow together.

In the present testing time, when the nation is facing challenges to overcome the highly contagious coronavirus, JNU is trying every possible way to contribute to society. The university has come up with a coronavirus portal where it is providing the public access to reliable and authentic information regarding COVID-19. In addition to that, JNU has organised digital workshops for its faculty members to train them in online teaching as well. Keeping the tough times in mind, JNU is taking steps to look after its students too. Conducting virtual workshops would provide exposure to faculty members of online teaching. Even in this tough time, when the entire nation is going through a complete coronavirus lockdown, the measures adopted by JNU would help the students to avoid any academic loss and always stay ahead in the game.
