The candidates who are willing to take Jawaharlal Nehru University’s entrance examination for the admission to various courses need to note that the examination fee has been hiked by 27 percent. The hike in the examination fee will come into force from the next academic session, i.e., 2017-18. One of the officials revealed that the decision regarding the same was taken by the examination department in the recently held Academic Council meet followed by an Executive Council. Now, the aspirants need to shell out more money to appear for entrance exam.

However, the hike will not be applicable for the candidates belonging to Physically Disabled, SC/ ST and Below Poverty Line (BPL) categories. The examination fee was last increased in the year 2003, and after 13 years the varsity has revised the fee structure. As of now, the fee hike will apply to those candidates who belong to General and OBC categories. On the other hand, the new fee structure is also applicable to the candidates abroad.

One of the officials of the examination department revealed that the application fee for B.A programmes was Rs. 420 earlier and the candidates who apply for any additional disciplines needed to pay Rs. 630 and Rs. 800 respectively. Currently, the application fee has been hiked to Rs. 530 and if the candidates are willing to apply for additional disciplines, they will be required to pay Rs. 800 and Rs. 1,000 respectively.
On the other hand, the application fee for M.A, MCA, M.Tech, M.Sc, Ph.D. and M.Phil was Rs. 300 earlier. Now, the application fee for these courses has been hiked to Rs. 400. If the candidates apply for additional disciplines, they will need to pay Rs. 575 & Rs. 750 respectively.
