The Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers Association (JNUTA) has demanded more time from the administration to discuss the decision of the central university to shift the date of JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2017 from the month of May to December.

On June 5, JNU administration had sent a letter to the deans of all its schools, chairpersons of all centers seeking their feedback by June 8. However, JNUTA has raised an issue as it is practically impossible to get back with opinions in such a short notice.

Ayesha Kidwai, president of JNUTA said since summer vacation is going on and faculty members are busy with the assessment of the entrance test answer scripts. He requested the administration to provide enough time for setting the process in motion and wait for the completion of the same.

She pointed that this is just not about changing examination date but also about changing the examination pattern. And for this, the centres need more consultation and time to discuss the issue as the new pattern will create obstacles for the students. The association has also disagreed with the letter’s statement which says that if any response is not received before deadline, admission committee will assume that the centre has no problem with the decision

According to the release, JNUTA has demanded an obvious withdrawal of the final statement of the letter. They have expressed that the tone is both impolite and unwarranted.

The association also demanded to make all the admission policy decisions in the Academic Council (AC). It added that discussion on the same without prior permission of the AC which took place in the standing committee is not appropriate.
