JNU Security Guard Cracks University Entrance Exam
With determination and hard work, a security guard at the Jawaharlal Nehru University has successfully cleared the entrance examination that has been conducted by the varsity for BA (Hons) Russian. Last year, he completed a distance course in Political Science, Hindi and History from Rajasthan University.
Jawaharlal Nehru University that has been known to develop the minds of some of the top scholars in India has proved that anyone and everyone can pursue their dreams if there is will. One such success story belongs to the security guard at the varsity. Ramjal Meena, a 34-year-old father with three daughters, from the state of Rajasthan, who has been working as a security guard at the varsity since he joined in 2014.
Ramjal Meena has cleared the JNU entrance examinations for admissions into the BA (Hons) Russian. He told sources that the constant support from the faculty as well as the students at the college helped achieve his goal. The 34-year-old hails from Bhajera village situated in the Karauli district of Rajasthan. He stated that while he was living with his father, he was unable to pursue his education due to financial reasons. He also stated that the higher educational institutions that he could go to were more than 28 km away from his place of residence.

Even though he became a part of the daily routine of earning enough to sustain his family, he never lost his urge to study and learn. In fact, he was able to complete a course in Political Science, Hindi and History last year through the distance learning option of Rajasthan University. On this achievement, the Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said that it was due to their acceptance of students from different backgrounds and their constant drive to motivate the students to think critically is the reason that people like Meena are able to pursue their dream. Meena was able to revive his long lost passion for studying and studied for the entrance examination during and after the completion of his duty for the day.

Meena mentioned that he was able to prepare for the entrance examination with the help of the news apps that he had downloaded on his phone along with the notes that he received from students in PDF form. Talking to the media, he said that he wished to study a foreign language for the simple reason that he wishes to visit places. However, as per the guidelines of the varsity, he will not be able to make a living out of his job as a security guard at the college. Being the only earning member of the family, he is not in a position to be able to study and not earn a single penny. The college, however, has stated that they will provide a helping hand to him as much as possible.
