Karnataka High Court 15th September Hearing on KCET Repeaters Issue 2022 Live Updates

Karnataka High Court has taken up the first hearing on Karnataka Government’s petition challenging the single judge order on KCET 2022 repeaters issue. The hearing took place at 11:50 AM at Court Hall Number 2 of Karnataka High Court. Honorable Acting Chief Justice & Justice S Vishwajith Shetty heard the plea. According to the previous order of the Karnataka High Court, KEA was directed to give 50:50 weightage for the repeater issue and revise the ranks. As the government was not satisfied with the High Court decision, Education Ministry decided to approach Divisional Bench.

What Happened in Karnataka HC on September 15th Hearing Regarding KCET Repeaters Issue 2022?

• The court took up the matter for hearing and directed the petitioners/ respondents to file objections
• The court further posted the matter for the next hearing on September 19 - Monday
• However, students are not happy as the matter kept on postponing and the counselling is getting delayed
• In all probability, a proper decision is expected to be taken up on September 19

The Government of Karnataka is battling to provide justice to 1.85 lakh fresher students who will be affected if the KCET ranks are revised by providing 50:50 weightage to repeater students. KCET counselling 2022 is yet to begin due to the High Court issue. On the other hand, COMEDK counselling 2022 has also been delayed due to the delay in the CET counselling process and repeaters issue.

Here is a detailed recap of events that happened with respect to the KCET 2022 repeaters issue –

• After the KCET results 2022 were declared, repeaters raised issues on rank and figured out that they were not given 50:50 weightage for PUC marks and KCET score like fresher students.
• Repeater students approached the High Court demanding justice at par with fresher students
• After aggressive arguments, the single bench Judge ordered KEA to revise CET ranks and provide 50:50 weightage to fresher students
• Fresher students were disappointed with the students and protested in front of the KEA office
• The Government of Karnataka was not satisfied with the decision and the Education Minister confirmed that the government would challenge the HC order in the Divisional Bench of Karnataka High Court
• A petition was filed on September 13, and the first hearing took place on September 15
• The matter has further been posted for next hearing on September 19
