Karnataka SSLC Exam 2025: 20% grace marks scraped from this year, details here
Karnataka Secondary Assessment Board (KSAB) has decided to no longer provide grace marks to students appearing for SSLC 2025 exam. Read the complete details below.
Karnataka SSLC Exam 2025: Karnataka’s Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, has officially announced that the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEAB) will no longer offer 20% grace marks to students appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam in 2025. In a press conference, Minister Bangarappa detailed several reforms aimed at curbing malpractices in Karnataka Board Exams, including enhanced monitoring measures such as live streaming and webcasting during examinations.
In the March/April 2024 SSLC exams, KSEAB granted 20% grace marks to students as a one-time measure to improve declining results. These declines, which amounted to a 30% drop in the pass rate, followed the implementation of stricter anti-malpractice regulations, including webcasting. As a result, approximately 1.70 lakh students who had previously failed were promoted, leading to a 20% increase in the overall pass rate. The grace marks were divided into two parts: 10% of the grace marks were introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to mitigate academic disruptions, while an additional 10% was granted in 2024 to address the stricter examination regulations.
However, Minister Bangarappa confirmed that, beginning in 2025, even the 10% grace marks originally introduced during the pandemic will be removed. This decision is part of broader efforts to reinforce the integrity of the examination system and ensure that students are evaluated based solely on their merit.
Looking ahead, the Karnataka SSLC Class 10 exam for 2025 is expected to be held in March-April, with results anticipated by May 2025, based on previous trends. The complete date sheet for the KSEAB SSLC board exam is likely to be released by December 2024. Once available, the official date sheet PDF will be accessible on the KSEAB’s website: kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
