Kashmir University gets its First Woman VC
In a historic move, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed a woman as the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University. Check to know all about this decision.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government under the aegis of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appointed Professor Nilofer Khan, a professor in the Home Science department of Kashmir University, as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university on Thursday, May 19, 2022. This is a historic move because never in the history of Kashmir University has a woman ever been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor.

Kashmir University Appoints First Woman VC Ever
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who also happens to be the Chancellor of Kashmir University was joyful when he replied to media channels who had asked of this very progressive development. In his communication, he stated that he was exercising the powers vested in him under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969.
As the Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Manoj Sinha stated, he hereby appoints Professor Nilofer Khan belonging to the Department of Home Sciences in the University of Kashmir to be the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir for a period of three years with effect from the date she takes overcharge, on the terms and conditions will be notified to her separately later.
