The High Court of Karnataka ordered the postponement of the KCET 2022 document verification process till further orders. A hearing took place on August 8. The petitioners claimed that they passed the PUC II exams in 2021 and appeared for the KCET exam in 2022. However, the exam authority did not consider marks scored in PUC while declaring the KCET 2022 ranks. However, the PUC marks of students who appeared for the exams in 2022 were considered while preparing the ranks.

After hearing the arguments, the High Court ordered that the document verification process should begin only after the further orders of the HC. The next hearing will take place on August 18.

Important Facts about Petition on KCET 2022 Ranks

Here are some of the important facts about the petition filed on KCET 2022 ranks -

  • As per the admission rules, KEA allocates 50% weightage to PUC marks while preparing the ranks and 50% weightage is given to the performance in the KCET exam
  • In 2021, PUC exams were cancelled, and all candidates were declared 'Pass' as per the previous academic performance. This might be one of the reasons why KEA had not considered last year’s marks of candidates who appeared for KCET 2022
  • The petitioners claimed that the ranking system of KCET 2022 is unfair as the 12th marks weightage of candidates who appeared for PUC and KCET exams in 2022 but 2021 pass outs who appeared for KCET in 2022 were not awarded any weightage for PUC marks

The document verification process of KCET 2022 is expected to be delayed further as the next hearing date of HC is scheduled for August 18.
