KCET Repeaters Issue 2022: Karnataka Government Yet to Challenge High Court’s Judgment on 50:50 Weightage for Repeaters
The Government of Karnataka is yet to file a petition challenging Karnataka High Court’s Judgment on KCET repeaters issue 2022. This delay is affecting the counselling process and students are demanding an update from KEA.
Karnataka Government which was supposed to challenge Karnataka High Court’s judgment on 50:50 weightage for KCET 2022 repeaters. So far (till September 12, 2022), there has been no update on the government’s stand on whether the petition to challenge the HC judgment in the divisional bench has been filed or not. Candidates who have cleared KCET 2022 have been eagerly waiting for the counselling process, and the delay is causing nervousness among the students.
On September 3, 2022, the High Court of Karnataka ordered Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to revise the ranks of KCET 2022 by including a 50:50 weightage for repeaters. On September 5, the Government of Karnataka announced that it would challenge the High Court order in a divisional bench, and discussions are being held regarding the same.
Students Demand KEA Start KCET Counselling 2022
While the Karnataka Government’s stand is still not clear on CET ranking 2022, students have been demanding KEA start the counselling process for KCET 2022. So far, KEA has also been conducting the document verification process for KCET, and the main counselling is yet to begin. While JoSAA counselling 2022 and other state-level B.Tech counsellings like TS EAMCET, AP EAMCET, KEAM etc have already started, students are demanding KEA initiate the counselling process so that academic session will not be hampered.

KEA and COMEDK to Plan Counselling Schedule Together
As per the official sources, KEA and COMEDK are in discussion to prepare a counselling schedule for B.Tech admission. COMEDK is of the opinion that due to the delay in the counselling process they are losing out the students from other states who usually take part in the COMEDK counselling process. Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association (KUPEA) is planning to hold discussions on KEA on September 13 regarding the counselling schedule.
In all, due to the state government’s delay in challenging the HC order on the KCET repeaters issue 2022, the counselling process has been getting delayed which will eventually affect the admission timelines and academic session.
