Kerala: Fixed Fee Structure for MBBS in Private Medical Colleges
- As per the new fee structure, Rs. 5.5 lakh per annum is the fee for MBBS course.
- For candidates seeking admission under NRI quota, the fee is fixed at Rs. 20 lakh.
- The new fee structure is applicable for the academic session 2017-18.

The Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee, Kerala has fixed the fee structure for MBBS course in private medical colleges across the state. As per the new fee structure, Rs. 5.5 lakh per annum is the fee for MBBS course. For candidates seeking admission under NRI quota, the fee is fixed at Rs. 20 lakh. The new fee structure is applicable for the academic session 2017-18.
Justice R. Rajendra Babu, Head of Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee revealed that few private medical colleges demanded to fix the fee at Rs. 15 lakh. However, the committee rejected the proposal and termed it as profiteering, exploitative and exorbitant. The fee structure fixed by the committee is provisional and is applicable to all self-financing medical colleges. Deemed universities must also follow the same fee structure as per the instructions of the committee, he added.

Justice Rajendra also mentioned that the state government would issue appropriate orders if there were any differences in the fee structure after the final fee regulation. The state government also directed all the private/ self-financing medical colleges to submit all the relevant documents for fixing the tuition fees of medical colleges. The final decision on tuition fee will be taken soon.
The Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee decided the fee structure for private medical colleges after scrutinising the previous agreements and revenue collected by medical colleges as fees.

NEET-UG 2017 results were out on June 23, 2017. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) had released the counselling schedule for the seats that come under AIQ or All India Quota. According to the instructions of MCI & MCC, the states must complete the MBBS & BDS admission process by September 2017.
