The Kerala CBSE School Managements Association has appealed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) & the Union Ministry of HRD to abolish the Class 10 School level Board Exam in Kerala. Students from about 1300 CBSE schools in Kerala have complained getting unfair treatment from State driven government schools, especially at the Senior Secondary level.
T P M Ibrahim Khan, President of Kerala CBSE School Managements Association said that only students who appear for the Board examination are eligible to apply for Plus-II course in government schools currently.

He also added that even though board exams are conducted at a school leve, the question papers are prepared by CBSE. He further went on to say that students who pass in the CBSE examination face difficulties because there is a lack of credibility in the CBSE certificate. If the Board exam were to be made mandatory, it would bring credibility and standard to the procedure.

It is also a common assumption that CBSE extends a liberal marking system at the Class X level, as a result of which, students, who scored well in their Matriculation are unable to do so at the Senior Secondary level.
Mr. Khan also revealed that they are awaiting the final decision of the HRD Ministry. If the verdict is in their favor, then from 2017 onwards, Kerala will do away with Class 10 Board exams altogether.
