Kerala: Talks between Government and Youth Congress Regarding Private Medical Colleges Fail
One of the members of Youth Congress said that they are going to seek adjournment motion over the issue.
The discussions between the Ministry of Health and Youth Congress (YC), Kerala did not yield any positive results regarding the over fees and admission process in private medical colleges across the state. The members of Youth Congress met the Minster of Health, Shylaja on September 26, 2016. After the discussions, the minister concluded that the government would not make any changes in the agreements made with the managements of private medical colleges.

The members of Youth Congress have been observing indefinite fast from the past seven days in front of the secretariat. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the government was ready for the talks on September 26, 2016.
However, the members were not satisfied with the discussions and raised slogans against the government for not accepting their plea. The members mentioned that the students and parents are burdened with the excessive fees and hence the YC decided to hold talks with the government. However, the government is not ready to make any changes. One of the members of YC said that they are going to seek adjournment motion over the issue.

Minister of Health, Shylaja stated that the government would take stern action against the managements which violate the provisions of the agreement. In Trivandrum, the students were organising a march against the government which turned violent after the failure of talks. Police resorted to lathi charge to control the situation.
