KIIT International Model United Nations hosted by one of the country’s largest private universities, after two successful editions is now on route to become Asia’s largest student run Model UN conference scheduled to be held from 30th October to 1st November, 2015. The event, which is a Model of the United Nations, makes delegates gain insight into the working of the world body and the dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of UN representatives and members of other international bodies and national cabinets. The conference is an exciting opportunity for students to debate issues that confront world leaders and to draft resolutions in response to these global issues. It is not all about debate though as students from across the world engage in networking through parties arranged after each day’s sessions which leads to a huge amount of cultural and knowledge exchange. Last year, KIIT International MUN played host to Mr. Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-In-Chief at India TV who beguiled the students with his story of rags to riches. When asked about the motive behind organizing such conferences, Nabadip Deb, the Secretary General of this year’s conference said, “By giving their consent to the Model UNs the student community represents the change they wish to see in the world because it is the youth which can build a safer, more just world by promoting the UN values and principles.”
