KLETU Students Shine, Bags Rs. 1.35 Lakhs of Prizes
AeroKLE, a team of 17 KLETU has secured the top place at the national-level SAE India Aero Design 2019 competition held in Tamil Nadu.
SAE India created a competition for Aero Design Competition 2019 which was held in Tamil Nadu. It was a competition of the national level in which a team called AeroKLE obtained the first position. AeroKLE consisted of seventeen students from the KLE Technological University.
The winning team had Vineet Anand Bedarman (captain), Sayyed Ahmed Zuhair, Rohit Anvekar, Amit Allimatti, Rahul Pattar, G.V. Srikar. Shridhar Hadimani, Yajnesh Poojari, Koustubh Annigeri, Sujay C, Nilesh Bandekar, Mallikarjun Pattanshetty, Yeshwanth Kumar, Ajey Joshi, Sujay C, Alex Steven Dharmdas, Calvin Lobo and Om Prakash Patel.
Recently, SRM Institute of Science and Technology had organised a competition in which the same team obtained the third rank. Out of 146 teams that participated across the country, coming third was a great sense of achievement for the team.

The team was constantly under the guidance of Head of School of Mechanical Engineering, KLETU, B.B. Kotturshettar; Head of Centre of Material Sciences Nagaraj Banapurmath, and G.M. Hiremath (the faculty coordinator). The team bagged a cash prize of Rs. 1.35 lakhs.
The tasks involved: designing and testing different prototypes in Hubballi and optimising the final aircraft designs and then submitting the technical design report at the event. It was very well appreciated by the experts from the Indian Space and Research Organisation, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and National Aerospace Laboratories, who were the judges for the event. They gave it the title of “best technical design report” and gave them Rs. 1.35 lakhs as the prize.
