Kolhan University to Launch 40 New Courses

Kolhan University will launch a total number of 40 new courses from the academic session 2017-18. The courses will be introduced in all the colleges of Kolhan. The first rationalisation process of courses took place in the year 1976 and all these colleges were a part of Ranchi University then.

Now, the students of Kolhan University will get better opportunities to choose their career as per their desired profession. Currently, Kolhan University has 22 departments and the varsity offers professional courses like Mass Communication, B.Sc in Information Technology, MBA, MCA and BBA.

Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University, Mr. RPP Singh revealed that the students pursuing various courses in colleges of Kolhan can pursue uncommon courses in the region itself. Further, they will need not leave the state to pursue those courses. He took part in a three-day meeting with State HRD Ministry at Ranchi and confirmed the launching of 40 new courses from the 2017-18 academic session.

He further revealed that the varsity had submitted a 150-page proposal regarding the course rationalisation to the State Higher and Technical Education Department. The rationalisation of the courses will soon get the nod from the Cabinet. The proposal made by Kolhan University is expected to be passed by the Cabinet this month.

Mr. RPP Singh further expressed his happiness over the fact that the varsity is going to launch better and useful courses for the students. He pointed that there have not been any changes since 1976 expect the rapid upgradation and change in the higher education sector. Now, the varsity is also re-introducing conventional courses for students, which is a good step.

• Environment Management
• Hospital Management
• Hospitality Management
• Music
• Fine Arts
• Cultural Studies
• Computer Science
• Hotel Management
• Sociology
• Ancient History and Archaeology
• Anthropology

The varsity also directed the affiliated colleges to bring improvement in the vocational courses. Mr. RPP Singh pointed that the response that these courses are receiving is not satisfactory. Therefore, he suggested improvements to these courses.
