7 Universities in Rajasthan amongst Top 100 Best Universities of HRD

7 universities in Rajasthan (all categories) have featured in the Top 100 list of Best Universities announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD). The ‘India Rankings 2016’ list was collaborated with the participation of 3,500 private and public institutions, which were then ranked by National Bureau of Accreditation (NBA) based on five criteria — teaching and learning resources, graduation outcome, perception, outreach and inclusivity and research productivity. All institutions were judged based on self-disclosure of information.

The Top 7 Universities of Rajasthan that feature in the ‘India Rankings 2016’ include:

• Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (AIR-9)
• Banasthali Vidyapith (AIR-29)
• Central University of Rajasthan (AIR-34)
• University of Kota (AIR-78)
• LNM Institute of Information Technology (AIR-85)
• Sir Padampat Singhania University (AIR-95) and
• Rajasthan University Of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (AIR-97).

BITS-Pilani

BITS-Pilani leads the list due to its highly experienced faculty, the number of publications and physical facilities. Of its 535 regular faculties, 417 are Ph.D. holders! The report also point out why this university has the best ecosystem for knowledge. It spent Rs 171.56 lakh on e-journals and e-books while Rs 58.05 lakh on physical books and journals in 2014.

Banasthali University

Banasthali University also scores high on highly qualified faculty with 277 faculties holding Ph.D. degrees out of 393. This university has also spent Rs 173 lakh on e-resources, e-journals, and e-books while Rs 70.16 lakh on physical resources: books and journals.

Central University of Rajasthan

Central government institute--Central University of Rajasthan scored 34th rank. It has reduced its expenditure on physical books and journals from Rs 61.91 lakh to Rs 37.41lakh in 2013-14 to 2014-15 respectively . It fared better in terms of research journals published which comes to around 46 in 2014 (web of science).

University of Kota

The lesser known University of Kota comes as a surprise in the list. It has a total of 25 regular faculties.

The biggest disappointment is Rajasthan University , which was recently awarded `A' grade by the NAAC team, but is nowhere in the list. State's biggest university has the total of Rs 150 crore worth research work going on. However, it has failed to impress the evaluators.
