KSA Student Body Urges Manipur University to Follow UGC Norms on Reservation
KSA has asked Manipur University to follow the reservation norms laid by UGC.
In a press conference by the Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Manipur University has been notified to follow the rules and regulations set by the University Grant Commission regarding the reservation quota. KSA is currently working for the students of Manipur to provide them with the best of education facilities.
On August 25, a KSA organised a press conference at their Konjeng Hazari Leikai office. During this Moirangthem Lakshman, the president of KSA student body said that norms regarding the reservation quota were sent in the form of letters by the University Grants Commission to the Manipur University on March 23 and June 3 and they should strictly comply with the same.

According to both the letters, it has been clearly defined that for all the central universities funded by the Central Govt they are entitled to follow up with the rules of the reservation quota, i.e
- 15 percent for SCs
- 7.5 percent for STs
- 27 percent for OBCs
This quota will be valid for admission in various courses as well as in matter of teaching and non-teaching posts.
As per a provision mentioned in the constitution, these central universities will have to follow the reservation quota for admission of candidates in all courses falling under the Central Education (Reservation in Admission) Act of 2006 and Central Education (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act of 2016 .

Also, while recruiting teachers, all central universities will have to follow the same reservation quota. According to KSA President, MU is currently not binding the rules and regulations ordered by the UGC despite of repeated warnings and letters. He asserted that MU should give admissions to students and recruit teachers by complying to the UGC reservation norms.
He also said mentioned that in case the MU does not bind by these norms, then KSA with university students will launch a series of protests against the university.
