LinkedIn & HRD Ministry Sign MoU to Create More Jobs for Students
The primary objective of the MoU between LinkedIn and Human Resource Development Ministry is to create a large number of job opportunities for the Indian students.
One of the most popular and leading professional networks in the world, LinkedIn has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Human Resource & Development (HRD) Ministry. The primary objective of the MoU is to create a large number of job opportunities for the Indian students.
LinkedIn’s key product/system - LinkedIn Placements - will be adopted by a number of colleges in India. These will be primarily those that are affiliated with AICTE, also known as All India Council for Technical Education. The decision was announced through a press release in Mumbai today (2nd November 2016).

The ‘Placements’ portal allows students to take an online assessment test irrespective of their location or college, thereby giving them access to thousands of job openings in the top corporate companies in India. An interesting feature, LinkedIn Placements, will not only help students grab the best of opportunities but will also help them evaluate their performances.
Akshay Kothari, Head of Product and LinkedIn India Country Manager revealed that they are excited and are looking forward to working with the Human Resource Development ministry and AICTE to provide greater access to jobs for students through the ‘Placements’ product. The initiative has been taken up to bring students closer to their dream jobs.

LinkedIn Placements was introduced last year in the month of November. The product was opened to students at all colleges and universities in India recently (September 2016). The statistics showed that over two lakh students registered for the same and more than 1.2 million job applications were received through the portal.
