End of 5 PG Courses in Lucknow University?
Due to fewer takers in 5 PG level masters courses, the University of Lucknow is now thinking to discontinue the courses from the next academic year. Less than 60% admissions seen in these courses in 2019.
Lucknow University is thinking to discontinue 5 PG courses. The University has been seeing low or no admission takers in those 5 PG courses for over two years. It may discontinue the courses from the next admission session.
The counselling process for many courses did not take place in the university this year for low admissions and quality checking purpose. For the admissions in the courses of M.A. Journalism & Mass Communication, M.A. Business Economics and M.A. French, no counselling process took place where the counselling processes were halted for admissions in M.A. in Defence studies and M.Sc in Total Quality Management.
The Registrar of Lucknow University, Mr. Arun Kumar Yadav informed that for M.A. Defence Studies and M.Sc in Total Quality Management will only take place if the number of applicants becomes more than 60% of the total intake capacity.
On the same note, Prof. Anil Mishra, who is the Admission Coordinator at the University, said that the rule suggests conducting admission counselling for self-financed courses if only the applicant number touches 60% of the seat matrix.
The statistics of this year’s admissions at Lucknow University shows that only 25 students applied for the admissions in M.A. in Defence Studies course and only 15 appeared for the counselling. For M.Sc in Total Quality Management, a similar number of students applied for 30 seats but only 18 students appeared for the counselling process in the University of Lucknow.
