Lucknow University to Offer Only One M.Phil Course This Year
As per the norms of Lucknow University, it can offer a particular course only if 40% of seats are filled out of the total number of seats available.
Due to lack of response for various M.Phil courses offered, University of Lucknow has decided to offer only one M.Phil course this year. The varsity will be offering M.Phil in Hindi this year, and other courses like Social Work, Physical Education, Ancient Indian History, Archaeology, Anthropology and Sociology have been cancelled.
One of the officials associated with Lucknow University revealed that there isn’t adequate response and demand from the students for the courses mentioned above. He further added that the number of applications received for these courses was less than the number of seats available. Therefore, the varsity decided to cancel all these courses except M.Phil in Hindi.

He further explained that most of the students are opting for Ph.D. after the completion of PG and there isn’t adequate response for M.Phil.
As per the norms of Lucknow University, it can offer a particular course only if 40% of seats are filled out of the total number of seats available. Earlier, the varsity announced that it would offer M.Phil in both English and Hindi. However, the candidates who enrolled in English qualified in the Ph.D. entrance exam. Therefore, M.Phil in Hindi is the only course left which got more applications.

The varsity announced admission process for 10 M.Phil courses in the year 2015-16. However, there were no applications received for Anthropology and Public Administration disciplines. Therefore, the varsity conducted admission test for eight courses. A total number of 250 candidates applied for the entrance examination, and only 80 students have qualified in it.
