These seats will be divided between all the colleges that have been affiliated by the University of Madras. The authorities have decided that the seats will be increased from the on-going academic session.

Sources state since the time the new change has been released by the University of Madras, about 42 affiliated colleges and around 6 standalone institutions have applied for increasing the total number of seats in the courses for Arts and Sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor, P Duraiswamy has stated that a total of 81 sections for the undergraduate programmes meanwhile 33 sections will be allocated for the postgraduate programmes in the colleges affiliated with MU.
