Maharashtra CET Cell: 540 LLB Seats Still Vacant

For the current academic year in the state of Maharashtra, the MH CET cell has announced that there are a total of 540 seats still vacant in the law colleges across the state. As per the records, 27,169 students had registered themselves to the Common Admission Process under the State CET cell.

In Maharashtra, there are a total of 141 law colleges offering three-year LLB programme. Records state, there are 15,100 seats available in total, in the law colleges in Maharashtra.

A Maharashtra CET cell official, Ghanshyam Kedar, declared that there 540 seats that remain vacant in the state. He stated that the reason for the number of vacancies is a result of the students’ preference for choosing law colleges situated in popular cities like Pune, Mumbai and Nagpur. Further reasons suggest that the students have also been rejected as they failed to meet the admissions guidelines.

Officials have also stated that the admissions to the different law programmes had also been delayed to the delayed release of the Mumbai University results by two months. Plans to tighten up the admission processes are on the table for the next admissions, the officials mentioned.

There are a total of 171 seats under the law courses in Mumbai University, that have been left vacant. The reason stated by Ghanshyam Kedar is that the students do not wish to pursue their law programmes outside the cities, unlike the medical aspirants. Most of the seats that have been left vacant in MU are situated in the Konkan region.

The CET cell of Maharashtra has also released the notification announcing the tentative dates for the CAP processes for different professional courses for the 2020 academic session, on the official website.
