Maharashtra HC: Additional Merit List to be Issued for Private Medical Colleges Based on NEET
According to the new rules passed by the High Court, the state government has authority to make reservations on a regional basis.
The High Court of Maharashtra has directed the government to issue separate merit list for the private medical colleges based on the NEET scores. The applications have to be called online under All India Quota.
The government has already completed the admission process as per state rules and regulation where students from other states do not apply for admissions. The students of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir’s KBH Dental College & Hospital have challenged the domicile rules of the state which are in favour of regional reservations. They questioned on how those rules applicable to the private medical colleges.

Admissions in private and unaided colleges have to be done based on the NEET scores. In the same way, the students must possess HSC certificate from Maharashtra. High Court mentioned that the parents and students must precisely follow the guidelines and need not worry about the admission process.
According to the new rules passed by the High Court, the state government has authority to make reservations on a regional basis. The petitioners will begin their arguments from Thursday regarding the restrictions imposed on the students coming from other states.
As of now, the state government will prepare an additional merit list for all the private medical colleges based on the NEET scores.
